Hi, my name is Ruth and I’m a Green Badge tour guide in Cambridge. I run ‘Cambridge at Your Feet’, a small independent company which works with only qualified Blue and Green Badge guides – the only ones permitted to guide inside our most famous colleges. 

All our tours are completely private, which means that your tour group will consist only of you and your family, friends, and colleagues.

A little about me

I first came to Cambridge as a student, and then followed an eventful working life which included teaching English in Japan, and working for the United Nations as an elections adviser in a wide range of interesting countries.

After many fascinating years, I decided to settle in Cambridge and trained to become a tour guide. I’m proud to say that after a year-long course, I passed the exams of the Institute of Tourist Guiding, qualified as a Green Badge guide and became a member of the Society of Cambridge Tourist Guides.

We usually struggle with group tours – as a family of five, we go at our own pace and some of us need more time than others; so we thought to try a private tour this time in Cambridge. The best decision ever!! We loved the private tour with Ruth – by far the highlight of our day in Cambridge. Not only that we learnt a lot, but felt hugely inspired and energised by her passion for Cambridge and the wealth of culture and knowledge there.

In order to give our guests the best possible experience, we are focusing on smaller group sizes, normally of up to 12 people on a tour (although we can take up to 15 people if necessary, for a small additional cost). However, with our pool of qualified guides we are happy to take bookings from larger groups, which will be split into smaller groups for the tour.

The prices listed for our tours are the costs for the entire group of up to 12 people.

Additionally, for even better value:

• We offer discounts on the tour costs for small groups of 5 people or less, and

• For larger groups which have to be split into two or more smaller groups, we offer discounts on the price for all the tour groups
